Transform basic scarves and cotton bandanas into cute summer cuffs with a few leftover rhinestones! Don't want to sew? These would look equally adorable displaying vintage brooches and pins! Scroll down for the how-to!
I got these scarves at Target for about $2 each on clearance. I find beautiful scarves and bandanas frequently at thrift shops too if you'd like a more worn in look! Each scarf makes four bracelets, so grab some friends and complete these cuffs in under an hour!
What You'll Need :
Cotton Bandanas
Rhinestones
Thread and Small Needle
Tailors Chalk
Straightedge
Straightedge
Fabric Scissors
Here's the How to :
1. Fold a square scarf or bandana into quarters and press along the edges to crease. Trace the quadrants with chalk and cut along the lines with fabric scissors.2. Fold one quarter of the fabric in half creating a right triangle. Roll the smaller end of the triangle towards the base of the triangle creating a 1 inch wide folded strip.
3. Iron the folded strip to keep fabric in place while you sew on rhinestones. Place a few straight pins in the strip if you anticipate your folds slipping while you embellish!
4. Thread a needle with contrasting thread for a pop of color and knot the ends. Start in the center of the bracelet strip and attach rhinestones with several stitches for a strong hold. Pass through all the layers of the fabric to bind the folds in place. Bedazzle your bracelets with a pattern or scattered motif!
