Fun fact! I haven't seen an empty toilet paper tube in a LONG time...that's because once I discovered there was such thing as a "tubeless" roll I realized how obsolete it was! As I've tried to make more sustainable choices in fashion and in my home life this year I have to say your bathroom is the place to start! By choosing a tubeless roll you eliminate a significant amount of needless cardboard (that takes fossil fuels to produce) and you get more sheets per roll. If you ask me that's a win-win--That's why I've partnered with Scott, my favorite toilet paper brand, to share a sustainable bathroom makeover to get your house guest ready for this holiday season!
You can easily complete this DIY with items you pick up at your local thrift shop, yardsale or flea market for under $20! Here are some of my ideas!
Idea 1 : If you live in the northeast like I do, almost every home has a radiator in every room. I'm making the most of this awkward space by creating a shelf from a cutting board that can house a seasonally scented candle and other toiletries instead of cluttering up your counter space.
Idea 2 : Certain varieties of plants love bathrooms, especially philodendrons and orchids. Create hanging macrame plant hangers with vintage salad bowls and trays to house your favorite indoor plants.
Idea 3 : Store extra rolls of toilet paper, towels and toiletries in wicker baskets so guests can easily find what they need!
Idea 4 : Thrift store shelves are full of decorative containers and trays perfect for storing q-tips, cotton balls and cosmetics. Get your counters de-clutterd by containing toiletries with a few glass dishes and jars.
After you've completed your bathroom re-style stop by Rite Aid to grab a pack of Scott Tube Free toilet paper to stock your cabinets!

I love the cheeseboard idea -- as I too live in the North East and have way too many radiators ;) Great tips! #client
ReplyDeleteThe cheeseboard looks great as a shelf over the radiator. Love the idea of the macrame hanging planters. I love painting small jars and decorating them to hold things like q-tips, makeup brushes etc.
ReplyDeleteThat looks simply wonderful - well done! bamboo flooring in kitchen/bathroom
